Wedding Advice: Something Will Go Wrong

Thousands of dollars and countless hours go into to planning this one day. Don’t let it pass you by without enjoying it. It can easily become overwhelming if you let. No matter how much planning you put into it, inevitably something WILL go wrong... and it will be ok. The majority of the time, your guests won’t even notice something went wrong or someone missed a cue. There’s nothing you can do about it, just brush it off and keep going.

Luckily, we have never photographed a “bridezilla.” But I can tell you from experience, some brides get extremely stressed out right before the ceremony, and with good cause. They want everything to be just perfect. I would say 99% of the time that is not the case. The actually wedding ceremony happens so quickly. Live in the moment. I know, I know, everyone tells you that. But there is truth to it. The average wedding I photograph only lasts about 15-30 minutes. That’s it!! Realize that the day is about you and your significant other. The rest of the stuff will work itself out. And if it doesn’t?? Who cares! It will be something to laugh about later.

An outdoor wedding we recently photographed, the bride and groom told us they accidently dropped the wedding ring during the rehearsal dinner. Unfortunately, they were standing a wooden deck. You guessed it, it fell right through the crack down to the ground. The only way to retrieve it was to take the deck boards off one by one. Stuff happens.

Your wedding day will be one of the most memorable days of your lives, don’t let stress hinder the excitement. Have fun, enjoy your reception with your family and friends. Don’t be afraid to dance. You truly won’t believe how fast it goes by.
